Opportunities to Serve

There are many ways for people to help us in our church and within our various ministries. Here are just a few:

* Worship: All are welcome! Come get involved with music on Sunday. Bring your talents and to our liturgy which honors the individual and who you uniquely are. Special features of Sunday’s worship include Special Music, Prayer & Healing Service, and an “Angel Assembly” where Sunday Spiritual Message ends with a dialogue of the congregation with the minister and one another. This time is for your thoughts, reflections, questions, and testimonials.

* Education: There are many opportunities to serve in a teaching capacity in Sunday School for young children and even in adult education. A wealth of materials are available on topics such as life after death, angels, body theology, the deeper meaning of scripture, old and new testament as well as many others.

* Swedenborg Hall: In our ministry to the arts, we sponsor many opportunities to serve within the arts community by sponsoring such events such as plays, concerts, workshops, classes, and hosts various community meetings.

* Historical Architecture and Gardens: To keep our historic neighborhood church and garden beautiful for all to enjoy, it takes a great many green thumbs. It is a teaching garden with a self-guided tour that keeps with our green philosophy of sustainability while also explaining Swedenborg’s cosmology and understanding of the symbolic language of Scripture, which in turn helps us interpret the “book of nature,” our dreams, and even the narrative of our lives – the “writing on the wall” so to speak.

* Helping Real People in the Real World: Help to our sister new church group in Tijuana, Mexico Proyecto Hispanaya – “Celestial love is love to the Lord, and spiritual love is love towards the neighbor.”
